A restaurant owner in a tourist area wanted to speak English with overseas customers. He took a 40-hour course designed around his needs: greeting customers, explaining dishes, making recommendations, talking about customers' home countries and giving local directions. We also translated his restaurant's menu into English, French, German and Spanish. Another satisfied customer!

While working for a multinational company, this student decided to take an MBA to broaden her future options. Her chosen course was taught in English and required an IELTS qualification. Although she already spoke well, she needed to practise exam writing. She took 20 hours of lessons with us and did substantial practice at home. Three months later she passed the exam, opening up new opportunities.

Like many people, this student had struggled with English at school. Travelling abroad made him realise how much he was missing: he could not speak to people and felt embarrassed when friends were chatting in English. He asked us to help him improve his pronunciation and basic grammar so he could keep learning independently. He took 20 hours of lessons and worked hard at home with audio files we provided. His learning journey had begun.

This student applied for a job in Brussels and was told the interview would be in English. He already had a good foundation but took 20 hours of lessons to build confidence. We designed a focused course around his life and experience, using interview role-plays covering personal details, opinions and current EU issues. We recorded the practice interviews and reviewed them together. He left for Brussels feeling confident and optimistic.

A doctor working in an emergency department noticed that more patients did not speak Portuguese. She needed English to communicate with and care for them. Her assessment showed a need to revisit grammar and pronunciation and build vocabulary for her work, including questions used when assessing patients. She began with 20 hours of lessons and returns for further blocks whenever her work allows. Her learning is ongoing.
